Chicken a la King

Daily Bread was founded in 2005 in reaction to the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina. Daily Bread remains mainly a door-to-door sales company staffed by college kids trying to earn money in the summer. The company’s roots are in states with high concentrations of Mormons, although you can now find reps across many of the western states.

Daily Bread is the exclusive provider of Mountain House food through direct sales. Although it is possible to buy Mountain House food on the Internet, Daily Bread is the only one authorized to sell it through actual sales reps.

In 2009, Daily Bread launched an online sales company called Food Insurance that uses Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and other celebrities to endorse its products.

All Food Insurance and Daily Bread packages are exactly the same, and sometimes the company doesn’t bother to change the packaging on “inner cans.” So don’t be surprised if you open up some outer boxes and see other brands on the inner cans or boxes. Also, not all of the food is freeze-dried. Daily Bread mixes freeze-dried and dehydrated food in most of their packages—a common practice in the food storage industry.

Daily Bread (along with Food Insurance) is a real pioneer in the emergency food preparation industry, and it is easily one of the largest resellers of food storage. We do recommend buying online from Food Insurance since you will most likely get the best price by cutting out the sales representative.
